GENERAL REGULATIONS

The ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2007 will be conducted in accordance with the ISU Constitution and General Regulations 2006, the ISU Special Regulations & Technical Rules Single & Pairs Skating and Ice Dancing 2006, as well as all pertinent ISU Communications.

Participation in the ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2007 is open to all Competitors who belong to an ISU Member, Rule 130, paragraph 1 and qualify with regard to eligibility according to Rule 102, provided their ages fall within the limits specified in Rule 108, paragraph 2 and they meet the participation, citizenship and residency requirements in Rule 109, paragraphs 1 through 5, and Communication No. 1117 or any update of this Communication.

In accordance with Rule 109 of the ISU General Regulations and ISU Communication No. 1117, all skaters who do not have the nationality of the Member by which they have been entered or who, although having such nationality, have in the past represented another Member, must produce an ISU Clearance Certificate. An exception with regards to nationality and residency requirements is stated for Pairs and Ice Dance couples in Rule 109, paragraph 2. c).

1. TECHNICAL DATA

All Championship events as well as some official practices will take place in the “Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium” Main Arena with the ice surface of 30m x 60m. The remainder of the official practices will take place at the “Meiji-Jingu Ice Skate Rink” with the ice surface 30m x 60m. Both are indoor, heated artificial ice surfaces. The two arenas are within 5 min. walking distance of each other.
Additional practice for Pair Skating only will be offered at the “Edogawa Sports Land Ice Skate Rink” with the ice surface of 30m x 60m, an indoor, heated, artificial ice surface. The distance to the hotel and/or the main arena and the other practice arena is about 40 minutes by bus.

1.1. Single Skating – Ladies and Men

1.3. Ice Dancing

Dance

In accordance with Rules 608, 325 and 639, paragraph 2 the one (1) Compulsory Dance from the dances listed below shall be drawn at the ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships 2007, from the dances not drawn for the Four Continent Figure Skating Championships 2007 and European Figure Skating Championships 2007. According to ISU Communication 1391, one of the three following compulsory dances will be skated:

Original
Dance

In accordance with Rule 609 and all pertinent ISU Communications.

The rhythm for the Original Dance is the

Tango Rhythm

One, two or three types of Tango may be used. If 2 types are used, one of them may be repeated.
The Rhythms are described in the “Ice Dance Music Rhythms Booklet and Compact Disc 1995”.

Vocal music is permitted. Variations of tempo within one selection of music are permitted. Each selection of music may have different tempo.
For the Tango, the lady is permitted to wear trousers.

Duration: 2 minutes and 30 seconds (plus or minus 10 seconds)

Duration: 4 minutes, +/- 10 seconds

In accordance with Rule 610 and all pertinent ISU Communication.
