Event Information

    The Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final 2000/2001 is an ISU Event which is sanctioned by ISU and organized by Japan Skating Federation. The Event will be held in accordance with the ISU Constitution and General Regulations 2000, the Special Regulations for Figure Skating 2000, the Special Regulations for Ice Dancing 2000 and all pertinent ISU Communications.

 


   The "Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final" 2000/2001 is composed of two different Rounds in each of the four disciplines as follows:

Singles and Pairs

Round 1: The Short Program is to be skated first. The Free Skating A, chosen by the skaters/couples, will be skated as the second part of Round1. The two initial rounds will be calculated according to ISU Special Regulations Figure Skating, Rule 353 to 356.
Round 2: Round 2 is "Head-to-Head" event. Each skater/couple will skate his/her/their "Free Skating B". The composition of the skaters in Round 2("Head-to-Head" event) is as follows:

The FINAL:
place 5  versus  place 6
place 3  versus  place 4

The SUPER FINAL:
place 1  versus  place 2

Starting Order:
The competitors will draw the starting-order immediately to prior of the individual warm-up-period.

Ice Dancing

Round 1: The Original Dance is to be skated first. The Free Dance A (program of 1999/2000) will be skated as the second part of Round1. The two initial rounds will be calculated according to ISU Special Regulations Ice Dancing, Rule 543 to 546.
Round 2: Round 2 is "Head-to-Head" event. Each skater/couple will skate his/her/their "Free Dance B". The composition of the "Couple" in the "Head-to-Head" competition is as follows:

The FINAL:
place 5  versus  place 6
place 3  versus  place 4

The SUPER FINAL:
place 1  versus  place 2

Starting Order:
The competitors will draw the starting-order immediately to prior of the individual warm-up-period.

Ties:
In case of a tie after Round 1 ISU Regulations Rule 356, paragraph 4 and 546, paragraph 3, c will apply.

Organizer: Japan Skating Federation
Place: Yoyogi National Stadium,  an artificial ice surface of 60m x 30m Tokyo, Japan
Men: Short Program max. 2min., 40sec.; but mat be less the prescribed elements to be skated are those listed in the ISU Regulations 2000, Rule 310, para2.
Free Skating A, B 4 min., 30sec., plus or minus 10 sec., In accordance with ISU Regulations 2000, Rule 320
Factors Short Program 0.5, Free Skating A 1.0
Special Remarks The two Free Skating Programs must be different in at least 50% of the music chosen, the costume and in their whole character. Each skater has to decide before the first draw, which Free Skating Program he will skate first (A) and which Free Skating he will skate last (B). There is no change possible after the first draw.
Ladies: Short Program see Men;
Free Skating A, B 4 min., plus or minus 10 sec., In accordance with ISU Regulations 2000, Rule 320
Factors see Men;
Special Remarks see Men;
Pairs: Short Program max. 2min., 40sec.; The prescribed elements to be skated are those listed in the ISU Regulations 2000, Rule 313, para2 and 4(GroupA)
Free Skating A, B 4 min., 30sec., plus or minus 10 sec., In accordance with ISU Regulations 2000, Rule 321

Ice Dancing Original Dance 2 min., 30 sec., plus or minus 10 sec.,
Rhythm Combination - rhythm
Any 2 or 3 of Foxtrot, Quickstep, Charleston, March in accordance with ISU Special Regulations Ice Dancing 2000, Rule 509
Free Dance A (To be skated in Round 1)
4 min., plus or minus 10 seconds. The Free Dance A must be in accordance with the ISU Special Regulations Ice Dancing 1998, Rule 510 (Season 1999/2000) with the following exceptions:
a) paragraph 4) l) applies; in addition the maximum number of lifts shall be 7.
b) paragraph 4) l) shall not apply (therefore, required elements need not to be included.
This means that any previous Free Dance, part or part of a previous Free Dance or a fully new Free Dance may be skated provided it complies with the above.
Music and composition must be in accordance with ISU Communications No. 1022, 1026 and 1042.
Factors Original Dance 0.4, Free Dance 0.6
Free Dance B 4 min., plus or minus 10 seconds. The Free Dance B must be in accordance with the ISU Special Regulations Ice Dancing 2000, Rule 510;
Special Remarks Free Dance "A" and "B" must be completely different programs.
